Our Little well BIG cutie!!!

I was attempting to put videos up but I only have a limited amount of time that she sits for me while we are out. So I put two up on Facebook. She is so adorable in them! But, here are a few pictures from the past few weeks. It's crazy to think that she will be 7 weeks old on Tuesday. She is growing up so fast! 

We enjoyed a lovely 65 degree day in February and went for a walk. She LOVES walking!

Packers!!!!!
That's right, I'm cheering for the Packers. I recently decided to cave in and leave my Minnesota Vikings days behind. It's more enjoyable to cheer along side my husband than to be against him :)
So in light of the Packers playing in the Super Bowl this year we had our own little Udey Super Bowl party! Here's a few of the pics from the day.

Little Miss Emma has some more visitors these past two weekends. My parents and auntie Abby were able to come down last weekend and auntie Nina came down this past weekend. It was exciting for everyone to be able to meet Emma and also nice to have a little help around the house. Yet at the same time I'm looking forward to some time to get into a groove.  

Emma is doing well. I took her to her 2 week check up this week. A bar they set for newborns is that they are back to their birth weight at their 2 week appointment. So we were shooting for 6 lbs 15 oz but thinking she was a little more. Emma clocked in at 7 lbs 6 oz. We have an ever growing little girl! It's amazing the things she picks up on even at not even 3 weeks old. She is enjoying tummy time and some wake time after her naps which is when mommy gets to see some enjoyable faces come from her little girl. I will try to get some pictures up soon.

Life will never be the same ☺

In a great way I mean that. Monday was the original due date we were given but by then Emma was 5 days old. I can’t imagine her coming at any more of a perfect time.  The last week and day have gone by so fast. 

Nana & Grandpa (Jay’s parents) and Cara were able to be at the hospital the night Emma was born.  It was wonderful to have family there to celebrate with us.  The next two days were loaded with learning new things and trying to remember things.  One thing I didn’t need to worry about was what state our house was going to be in or what we were going to eat.  Jay’s parents spent the night at our house while we were in the hospital and cleaned and put meals in the freezer.  The meals came in handy so much the first few nights we were home.  I never realized how much energy it takes to cook!  Even though the house was cleaned the day before we came home, it is definitely a house that a newborn lives in.  Each room has it’s own blankets, burp rags, and empty bottles from feedings.  Yet, when I really need that burp rag it seems to never be in the right place!

We’ve been to the pediatrician twice already. 3 days after she was born, we went to have her checked out because she was a little jaundice. Everything was fine though after they tested her. Monday we went in to get her weighed and she weighed 6 lb 13 oz! She was only 1 oz off of her birth weight. It normally takes newborns 2 weeks to get back to their birth weight so we must be doing something right!

We are looking forward to seeing many more of you but taking our pediatrician’s advice to keep her in a bubble for a few weeks because of the weather and it being cold season. 

There’ll be more pictures soon of GG & Grandpa (my parents) and Auntie Abby coming to meet Emma for the first time this coming weekend and then hopefully the next weekend having first time Auntie Nina, Uncle Joel, and cousin Wyatt come down. 

If you’re reading this and would like to be praying for the Udey family in specific ways, you can pray that: we have energy (this is tough work), that we stay encouraged even though we aren’t surrounded by the body at this time & in the Word, and that we would have patience in learning all the new things about parenting.

Tuesday, January 18th started out as a normal day going to work but ended with our sweet little girl in our arms.  We are truly blessed with a very precious girl.  

Labor went really fast. We left the house at about 1:30pm and Emma was born at 9:49pm that night.  She weighed in at 6lbs 14oz and is 21 inches long. Jay did quite a bit of work helping me through labor. I could not have done it without him.  We've had some visitors here at the hospital but are enjoying our time just to sit and relax before she is all ours at home.  

I'm sure more blogging will come but time to rest.

1st Blog of the Year; 1st Centimeter Down!

It's crazy to think that another year has gone by. 

Before our WTC New Years Eve party, I was thinking back on the past year. 

Quite a lot has happened.  

2 weddings in 2 months as seen below. 

Didn't my mom do a lovely job creating this! 

 Abby turned 16 and got her license. While we were home for Nina's wedding, she carted us around and was loving it.  We found out we were pregnant, which is another whole phase of life. My nephew Wyatt turned one. He is growing into such a cutie!  Here's a picture of their family.

Both parents have helped do many repairs on the house and yard. We are very blessed to have parents who care so much about us.  We enjoy having a family day with Cara each week. Most times it consists of going to get groceries, eating together, an occasional movie, or a nap during a football game.  I really enjoy having a part of my family here in Iowa, makes things a little easier. 

As we look to 2011, there's a big event that is right around the corner! Our little girl could be born any day now. We had a doctor's appointment Tuesday and I am 1 cm dilated and 75% effaced. We'll see when she wants to come out. We are both getting more and more excited and so are all of those around us.  I'm looking forward to meeting this little girl that is enjoying poking and kicking me at the moment. Here's a picture as of a few minutes ago.
37.5 weeks and going strong. :)

A Different Christmas

This year was a little different for Christmas. 

Being 8 months pregnant, I am restricted to traveling very far. Which means, we had Christmas in West Des Moines this year.  Cara and Jay's parents came over around noon and we started cooking.  We took a break to open presents from both sets of parents and got many wonderful and useful gifts. Dinner was amazing and we all stuffed ourselves too full; Jay is one spectacular turkey chef. We relaxed the rest of the night and made a game plan for the next morning.  

Cara arrived at about 6:45am and we were all off to breakfast at the Drake Diner and a morning of Christmas sale shopping.  Our goal was to get a Christmas tree for next year, but we were unaware that Christmas trees go on sale the week before. I guess we will just have to wait until next year. We did get some great sales on wrapping paper, candy,
and even a cute outfit for baby Udey :) 

The rest of the day we spent napping and relaxing. 

Overall, it was a very different Christmas. It was strange not to see my family on a main holiday and for Jay it was strange not to enjoy opening his stocking at his parent's house.  We both have traditions that we weren't able to do yet we enjoyed Christmas very much.  It even made me step back and take a moment to think about what Christmas is all about.  If it was about the presents, eating certain things, and seeing certain people, I'm sure I would be disappointed quite often. But to think, a King was born on this day and came for each and every one of us is amazing.  He loves each of us so much.

Jay's parents stayed in town a few extra days and helped do some repairs around the house. Here is the most visible one. 

They spent time cleaning the rest of the carpet in the living room and the family room and it looks spectacular.

Darlynn and I spent an entire day running errands all over town. We went to 2 different Wal-Marts, 2 Targets, the mall, and many other locations.  Our goal was to get as many things for the baby's room, as the time for her to arrive is getting closer and closer.  Here was one of our projects for the day.

Many things were accomplished in the past week. It's hard for me to believe that in about 25 days, give or take, she will be here. Time keeps flying by and I'm sure it will when she is born too. Hope you all had a safe Christmas and New Year!
