The kids (and adults) were pretty excited to see elk so close!
We got to watch an osprey fly away with a fish!
We were so bummed as we got to Bear Lake Trailhead at 9 am and the lot was full, so were the next two lots down. So, we went back into town to do another activity on our list. Riding horses!
Jay thought we should drive back up to the trailhead parking lots. We sadly didn't now about the ride/share/busing you up to the trailhead from a giant parking lot at the bottom the first time. But, we found a parking spot and were bused up and started hiking a little after noon!

We made it to Emerald Lake!
The kids did amazing. We were all glad to be back at the bottom, but we hiked the whole 3.8 miles. And, the elevation gain was 1000 feet!!
We were thankful to make it to the van and EAT!
Jay and Emma went on a little hike one day together!
I was able to watch the sunset over the mountains after coming back from an urgent care visit learning that Cole wasn't taking to the Colorado air/smoke well :(
