Time for Your Check-Up!

If you have any issues with going to the doctor, as we have had in the past, Doc McStuffins may be your answer!!! (And a whole lot of prayer!) We have been singing her theme song in anticipation for today's double appointments:
Lily's 3 year check up and Paige's 6 month check up.

Here's the song:

Everyone: Time for a Checkup, time for a checkup!
Doc: I'm gonna check your ears, check your eyes, find out how much you've grown...
Toys: Time for a checkup!
Doc: Then I listen to your heart beat, fix you up, ready to go...
Toys: Time for a checkup!
Doc: It's okay if you giggle. This will only tickle a little...
Everyone: Time for a checkup, time for a checkup.

Cheesy.... but it worked. Lily sat perfectly still. She was such a trooper and even let the med student check her out completely after our doctor already had. So, she basically was checked out twice and sat perfectly still both times. Crazy proud of her!!

 Lily's 3 Year Old Stats:
Height: 36 1/2"   31%
Weight: 31 pounds    50%

Paige's 6 Month Old Stats:
Height: 26.25"   62%
Weight: 17 lb 6 oz   71%

I get asked pretty often if Paige is comparable in size to the other girls. And, I like knowing sometimes myself. Here was Lily @ 6 Months. And, here is Emma @ 6 Months.

Visitors

Jay's parents came up this past weekend. The girls had such a blast with them!
We celebrated Lily's birthday, played lots of Play-doh, played t-ball,
colored, read books, smoked some meat, and did Build a Bear!

Celebrating Lily's b-day!

Lily LOVES Play-doh. We all rotated playing with her as
she sat at the table one time for 3 hours... :)
 Build a Bear!

Assembling Jay's smoker he got for his birthday! He made some ribs the next day!

Summer Where Are You Going!?!?

My parents recently visited and helped me by cleaning the carpet. We had planned to do it when we moved in (a year ago), but our move-in didn't go quite as smoothly as we planned so we are finally getting to it.

Playing outside!!!

For some reason, I really enjoy taking pictures of nature and the animals that live it in. Last week a hawk was possibly tearing a part a bird on our deck... and I thought 'Ah, I want to take a picture!!!'. So, I did :)

Then, he moved to the tree....

My dear friend April posted this cake on my Facebook wall and challenged me to do it. She didn't think I would do it so soon, but I had to! And, it was a blast to do!

Last CG together before we take different routes.

We are getting a little taste of summer this week as it has decided to be back in the 90s. So, I'm sure we will get back outside and enjoy some summer before fall is here!

Refreshing

With this crisp fall air, all I want to do is get out for a walk.
And, that's exactly what I did tonight with this little companion!

I get asked a lot, "Who do you think Paige looks more like, Emma or Lily?".
Definitely Lily. But sometimes they even do things like.... sleep the same :)

Paige at 6 months. Lily at 10 months.

Also, Paige has started getting up in the push up position and up on her knees every once in a while!

Emma and Lily wanted to join in on the tummy time :)

Goodbye 28...

Another year has passed..... and another verse has been worked on. Last year, I challenged myself to working on a specific verse for the whole year. Yep, 365 days... It was not that easy. Last year I worked on Proverbs 18:2 "Fools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinion." That was a tough one! If you'd like to look back and hear my thoughts from a year ago on it, you can find it here!

On to my 28th year of life!

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always,
pray continually,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God's will for you
in Christ Jesus.

I will have to admit that I did not do my best on living out this verse this year or consciously working on it. Being joyful and thankful does not come naturally for me. It is much easier for me to be negative, critical, and 'gently' point on things that people could do better on/at than being genuinely thankful that they are doing it at all!

Think about this: "give thanks in ALL circumstances."
It does not say, "give thanks when you feel like it", "give thanks when you've gotten a good night of sleep", "give thanks when you are healthy", "give thanks when life is going well", etc
I think you may get my point. It's easy to be thankful when things are going well, but when life gets rocky or I get a little irritated, frustrated, tired, exhausted, lazy, but most of all out of the Spirit, it is much harder to be thankful. This I will continue to work on... forever :)

I do like verse 17. Short and to the point. "Pray continually."
This has been a verse that reminds me, although I'm not perfect and will continue to work on it, that God wants to be in communication with me (and you) all day long! Continually! Not just at the dinner table, not just before bed, not when things are super rough circumstantially, but ALL the time!

I hope to continue to work on this through year 29 :) but, I also have another verse that the Lord may be prompting me to work on for 365 days. Until next year....

Another First!

I forgot to include Paige on the last post. Lily was really excited to help feed Paige her first bites of oatmeal. It was so sweet, and she did a really good job.

And, these are just cute pictures of her :)
She wakes up in such a great mood most days!
