Dadurday

Jay recently went on a work trip for a few days out to Montana.
The girls and I got to enjoy the landscape through pictures!

He was only gone for three days, but to the girls that was an eternity! The first day went pretty well as it was like he was gone for a normal day of work. But, by day 2, we needed something to focus on. Emma really enjoys this book from the library. It's called Dadurday. Short book report on it: A girl enjoys one on one time with her dad on Saturdays (Dadurdays) especially now that her mom just had twins. Then, the dad starts having to work on Saturdays. She is mad, frustrated, sad, etc. Finally, she has an idea to throw him a party for when he gets home! So..... that's what we did. Here is the page that inspired Emma the most!

Painting signs.

Emma cut out all the triangle banner pictures. Both the girls went through all my pictures and selected the ones they wanted hanging around the house.

In the book, the girl decorated outside. In fear of rain ruining her decorations, we didn't do that part. Emma decided to cut up some green yard and bring the grass inside. I thought it was so thoughtful and sweet.

Lily's painting.
Jay technically got home Friday night, but late enough that the girls were in bed. He's such a great dad and 'snuck' out Saturday morning. The girls woke up and were thrilled to know he was "on his way home".

Such thoughtful girls that really love their dad!

Growing up....

Emma and I have started some 'school time' when Lily and Paige are napping. We are super proud of her for sounding out her first word, STOP. :)
Lately, the 2 older girls in the house seem to be turning into ladies! They are enjoying painting their nails frequently, and Emma was even attempting to file her nails one day.

And.... Emma is now sporting her new big girl bike thanks to Grandma and Grandpa in Florida! We hope to get a few more rides in as the weather is getting warmer!

Last, Emma is just beyond helpful in so many ways. She takes on the role of the oldest well. I snapped this picture from the top of the stairs.

Busy, busy, busy....

This last week has just seemed to fly by as we've had quite a few things going on.
Last Friday, Jay and Emma went on a date to a wedding. Here's the cute couple :)

Sneaking in a pic with Lily.
The next morning the girls went to a birthday party for a good friend.
It was garden themed; so they wore cute flower dresses :)

Then Monday, my parents came into town. We ran some errands and played outside. My dad cleaned every window in the house, and my mom so wonderfully cleaned my bathroom. In general, but especially after having Paige, it's the little things, like a clean bathroom that just brighten my day :)

The same morning they left, the older two and I went to the Botanical Center for the first time with the church's home school co-op program.

Story time. Learning about the 4 seasons.

Touching the puppets.

Looking at the big coy fish in the river.

Thanks to Daddy for watching Paige so we could enjoy a morning out!
